Considered the most natural looking of all the various types of wig, the monofilament type is wefted with an inset of transparent micro-mesh at the crown into which synthetic fibre or human hair is hand-tied. In other words, the bare skin shows through, giving the appearance of hair growing from a real scalp.

Also known as ‘medical wigs’, monofilament wigs were first developed for those women who experienced significant hair loss as a result of chemotherapy, alopecia, or other medical reasons.

Now, however, their superior status, styling flexibility – being able to be easily parted in any direction – and ‘tape tabs – allowing the wig to be secured easily to the head when necessary – have placed the monofilament wig deservedly at the top of its game.
