Hand-tied wigs
At first glance, you would be forgiven for thinking that hand-tied wigs were simply more costly versions of those wefted on machines, with not much difference between them. Yet, when you consider the final result it becomes apparent what benefits each type offers the individual wearer. In the end it all comes down to preference.
A hair weft is basically a seam that holds all of the base ends of the hair together. As with a sewing machine, machine-wefted hair is fed into a machine and weaved very tightly into the seam.
Considered more durable and easier to use, these wigs last a long time without shedding and can be found from most hair suppliers.
Thinner and more flexible, hand-tied hair is manually woven and has a flatter weave, allowing the real hair to lay closer to the head and almost disappear onto the scalp and round the hairline. Less bulky than machine-wefted with each strand more securely attached to the weft, hand-tied wigs are less detectable due to their slimmer nature and are also a more natural appearing, lightweight solution.
